Our Search Methodology

It is our goal to truly understand our client’s need for exceptional talent before we begin a search. Our knowledge and previous work experience in nonprofit philanthropy and executive search allows us to find a perfect match for our client’s organizational needs. We take 95% of the risk out of your hire.


STAGE 1 Qualifying the Position

The first step in an efficient, successful search process is identifying the culture and unique attributes of your organization, the nuances that will create a positive hire for client and candidate.

STAGE 2 Proactive Outreach

Once the position has been qualified, our extensive outreach will begin, starting by connecting with top professionals in nonprofit, business, government, and academia, including targeted organization.

STAGE 3 Development of Candidate Pool

As we uncover “A” Caliber talent in the market, we will begin to screen and interview candidates via phone and in person (at our client’s request), leading to a presentation of potential candidates and their backgrounds.

STAGE 4 Candidate Selection & Interviews

When qualified candidates have been presented, final candidates will then be selected for the first round of interviews. We will help to tailor the interview process based on your talent needs.

STAGE 5 Final Selection

Final candidates will be interviewed by all necessary staff and stakeholders. Upon selection of a top candidate, The Batten Group will conduct a 360-degree reference check (up to 10 references), make the offer to the candidate and handle appropriate negotiations.
