Position Summary

At MANNA, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic, innovative and systems-oriented approaches to overseeing the organization’s financial well-being, Administration, and Information Technology activities. We are looking for a thought leader who cares deeply about our mission and is dedicated to finding the best investment strategies, asset management, risk management, and performance possible to further that mission. 

 

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will set financial policy and direction while also actively engaging in organizational strategy, culture and talent development. The CFO will assess the organization’s performance against the annual budget and the long-term growth plan, lead the effort to monitor and maintain appropriate levels of financial risk in the organization, and serve as an advisor to the leadership team, evaluating and assisting them with their financial plans and economic modeling.

The CFO will report to the CEO and work closely with the finance committee of the Board of Directors and the Senior Leadership Team. The CFO will supervise the finance team, a data position, and manage the IT Consulting team.

 

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, Board, and senior leadership on financial strategy and organizational sustainability.
  • Lead long-term financial planning, forecasting, and risk management aligned with MANNA’s strategic goals.
  • Engage the Finance Committee and Board in planning for financial stability and growth.
  • Develops financial models and scenario analysis to support strategic initiatives, program growth, and capital projects.

 

Financial Management

  • Oversee all accounting, budgeting, and reporting functions in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulations.
  • Collaborates with the Development team to provide financial data for donor reporting, grant proposals, and stewardship efforts.
  • Responsible for overseeing timely completion of all government grants and contract reporting and annual submissions.
  • Ensure timely completion of annual audits and accurate financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships.
  • Provide clear, actionable financial reports to leadership and the Board.

 

Risk & Compliance

  • Maintain strong internal controls to protect assets and reputation.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including grant requirements.
  • Oversee insurance programs and risk mitigation strategies.

 

Technology Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of IT systems and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure technology infrastructure supports organizational growth and security.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and implement cost-effective technology solutions.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Finance and IT teams, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and mentor team members to build technical and leadership capacity.

 

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive, senior-level experience in financial management. Non-profit senior leadership experience as well as past Chief Financial Officer or relevant Executive-level experience are highly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience; nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in food banking or food industry operations is highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets, funding streams, and capital projects.
  • CPA or equivalent financial credential preferred.
  • Experience overseeing IT strategy and vendor management.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, compliance, and risk management.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative leader who builds trust across teams and stakeholders.
  • Mission-driven with a commitment to equity and community impact.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong technology acumen, including understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, and digital tools for financial management.

 

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $125,000 to $145,000 annually, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and alignment with organizational priorities.  MANNA is also thrilled to offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision insurance, 401k with company matching up to 3%, short term and long-term disability insurance and generous paid time off.
